The Centre for the Disabled in Zanzibar was begun in 1975 and founded by Mr. Khalfan. Khalfan, a graduate from the Universtiry of Dar-es-Salaam, is an established activist in the advancement of people with disabilities. Due to hardwork on his behalf and by others in the centre, successful projects have been underway for years. These projects include educational facilities and career and job training. The Centre aims to be a launching point for people with disabilities that have trouble or are blocked from being educated or employed by standard channels.
